the soulsystem · five components

# A record at the center, and a system that grew around it.

It began as one protocol — a signed log that humans and AI change together. Then the questions the record couldn't answer became their own projects: who are you, where does a mind actually run, how does a stranger get in, and how does all of it fit on one machine you own.

The answers are **four more open codebases in orbit around the record**, and a fifth that gathers the whole thing into a single binary. A solar system, near enough: one body at the center that everything writes to, and the rest circling it.

the map is below · click a body

Each body is a separate repository, shipped on its own, source-available, and honest about what's proven and what isn't. **None of them needs a platform underneath.** They meet on plain NATS connections and a record everyone can read.

*[diagram: A map of the soulsystem: soulstream-core at the centre with soulstream-identity, soulstream-workloads, and soulstream-idp in orbit, and the soulstream product gathering them.]*

A record at the centre; the name, the room, and the sign-in in orbit; the house gathering all four. Hover a body — or read the key below.

- ****soulstream-core**the record Everything that happens is written down — humans and AI applying the **same signed changes** to shared work, on one log everyone can read. No bot API, no human API. Every other body writes here. *v0.8.4* · shipping [code →](https://github.com/impire-io/soulstream-core)

- ****soulstream-identity**the name Who is who. A persona's keys live here — born on first touch, never leaving — and a stranger's credential becomes a scoped one at admission. **No passwords, no per-person database.** *v0.2.0* · identity plane [code →](https://github.com/impire-io/soulstream-identity)

- ****soulstream-workloads**the room Where minds actually run. An agent or a tool is a declaration; soulstream-workloads runs it — the **same declaration, unchanged** — natively, in a microVM, or as a Kubernetes pod. *v0.4.0* · three backends · wrap [code →](https://github.com/impire-io/soulstream-workloads)

- ****soulstream-idp**the sign-in The sign-in a person walks through. A passkey-first OpenID provider that stands **exactly where Entra or Auth0 would**. No passwords, ever; enrol by single-use invitation, and an admin console to run it. *v0.5.0* · passkeys · console [code →](https://github.com/impire-io/soulstream-idp)

- ****soulstream**the house Where the whole system comes down to earth. One binary gathers the record, the name, the room, and the sign-in. **`soulstream init && up`**, and a person signs in with a passkey. *v0.11.0-rc.2* · pre-release binaries [code →](https://github.com/impire-io/soulstream)

**Four make the system; the fifth is where you live in it.** The record at the center, the name, the room, and the sign-in in orbit, and the house that carries them all. Grown one honest question at a time, in the open — with the reasoning, the reversals, and the measurements kept next to the code.
